Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts fund restoration project

The Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts, thanks to membership fees and fund raising activities, managed to successfully raise enough funds to sponsor the restoration of an antique frame of Jusepe Ribera?s ?St Stephen?, a seventeenth century masterpiece that currently forms part of Heritage Malta?s National Museum of Fine Arts Collection.

The presentation was held recently by the Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts President, Kenneth Zammit Tabona, to the museum?s Senior Curator, Sandro Debono, in front of Ribera?s masterpiece with its recently restored frame back in place. The frame was restored by Mr John Pace of Marsaxlokk. Members of the committee present for the occasion also included Ms Anna Galea and Ms Mona Vella.

The Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts committee is planning further fundraising activities so that in the future it will be able to sponsor other restoration projects within the same museum.

The National Museum of Fine Arts is located at the lower end of South Street in Valletta and is open to the public daily from 09.00hrs till 17.00hrs.
