Garrison Life during the French Blockade – Reduced price and extended opening hours at Fort St Angelo

On 7th June Fort St Angelo will open for a reduced price of €2 while the opening hours will be extended till 23.30hrs, offering a unique platform from where visitors can follow the Pageant of the Seas spectacle.

During the day the Historical Re-enactment Group of Malta together with various other international re-enactment groups will bring the fort back to life by highlighting garrison life during the two year French blockade that took place between 1798-1800. Fort St Angelo is one of the venues hosting one of the series initiatives spread across Malta and Gozo including the participation of around 600 people of whom some 400 hielding from across the EU.

With its strategic position at the tip of Vittoriosa, the magnificent Fort St Angelo provides a good sight of the spectacle hosted by the Grand Harbour from 16.30 till 23.30hrs. Pageant of the Seas, organised by Valletta 2018, features numerous regatta boats, power boats, yachts and carnival floats amongst others. This event includes also L-Għawma Toni Bajada and the race with a twist, Tellieqa Telliqun. The Grand Final will consists of a special pyrotechnic show involving fireworks on a number of floats rigged in the Grand Harbour as well as aerial fireworks from Fort Ricasoli.

Fort St. Angelo will open its gate at 9.00am and the opening hours will be extended till 23.30hrs, last entry at 23.00hrs. Children and Heritage Malta members enter for free.
