Peasant Costumes: Insights into Rural Life and Society

An exhibition of popular attire and their pictorial representations in late 18th, 19th and early twentieth century. The exhibition illustrates the historical context and production processes and materials for peasants? dress behind popular costume within rural Malta and Gozo at the time.

At the Ministry for Gozo. Exhibition will commence on Lejlet Lapsi – Notte Gozitana 2012.

Opening times: 8.30- 16.30hrs, last entry 16.00hrs.

Notte Gozitana

Free after hours entry to the Gozo Cittadella Museums: Gozo Museum of Archaeology, Old Prison, Gozo Nature Museum and Folklore Museum, and also the Gozo Area Exhibition Hall on 18 and 19 May from 19.00hrs ? 00.00hrs.

At the Gozo Nature Museum there will be a select specimen from the personal collection of Can. G.P. Agius de Soldanis, a pioneer in Maltese linguistics and a renowned historian.

For Kids: Participate in a Quiz on the Cittadella Museums and get a chance to win! Quiz can be obtained from all four museums and deposited at the Gozo Museum of Archaeology by Sunday 20 May at 17.00hrs.

Aligi Sassu (1912 – 2000) – Memories in Paper

A collaboration between Heritage Malta?s National Museum of Fine Arts and the Amici dell?Arte Aligi Sassu. This exhibition will feature 20 works on paper by Sassu. His works are in the Futurist and Primitivist idiom.

Hosted within the Contemporary Hall at the National Museum of Fine Arts.

Opening hrs: Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00hrs.

Tour of Fort St Angelo

An opportunity to visit Fort St. Angelo led by its curator Matthew Balzan.

On Sunday 20th May at 10.00hrs.

The tour will provide an overview of the history of the Fort and the ERDF project which is underway to restore it.

The tour lasts 2-2.5 hours. Tickets priced at ?2 for adult. HM Members and children under 16 enter for free. Booking PRIOR the event from all HM museums and sites. Tickets will NOT be available on the day from the gate.

Metal Magic – Spanish Treasures from the Khalili Collections

Over one hundred pieces from the Khalili Collection, considered to be the world?s finest collection of Spanish nineteenth-century damascene metalwork.

The exhibition includes chests, vases, jewellery, and objects from everyday life, displaying the mastery and technique of leading artists of this technique, including Pl?cido Zuloaga (1834-1910).

Educational activities are provided based on the damascene inlay technique, and a competition entitled “Deadly Beautiful? with prizes for those children who show the greatest creativity.

At the Salon of the National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta. Admission to the exhibition will be included in the admission price to the Museum: Members Free; Adults ?5; Students (12 years upwards) & Seniors ?3.50; Children (6 to 11 years) ?2.50.

Mixed media pictorial works and aluminium steles by renowned Italian artist Giorgio Celiberti will be on display at the Italian Cultural Institute,Valletta and at HeritageMalta?s Gozo Area Exhibition Hall andSt Martin?s Bastion in the Citadel, Gozo.

Tours of Fort St ElmoThroughout the Year

Heritage Malta organises tours of Fort St Elmo on Sundays (weather permitting) after the In Guardia and Alarme! shows. In coordination with the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA). Both shows start at 11.00hrs, followed by the Tour at 12.00hrs.

Ticket prices for the show AND tour priced at ?10 for adults and ?5 Euro for children (under 12).
