The exhibition ‘Core and Periphery’ was organised by Heritage Malta in collaboration with the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage at the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta from October 2018 to January 2019.
The exhibition was the first of a series aimed to focus on the Medieval Millenium in Malta (5th – 16th century AD). ‘Core and Periphery’ presents some of the results obtained from two different excavations by the Superintendence in 2008 and 2015 and introduces for the first time a ceramic typology for the 9th and 10th Centuries.
A new Virtual Google Arts and Culture tour of the Medieval Exhibition Series will be coming soon.
A detailed and illustrated exhibition pamphlet presents further information about the Medieval Ages in Malta and the two archaeological rescue excavations in Mdina and Ħal Safi. The pamphlet is available for sale from Heritage Malta sites and museums, and will soon be made available on Heritage Malta’s online shop
